The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has updated their sign-up process and website links for their Volunteer Water Monitoring Program. There are currently four monitoring sites in the Pomme de Terre River Watershed: a stream off Lake Rose in Otter Tail county, a stream off Lake Barrett in Grant County, and two near the Appleton Mill Pond in Swift County. The MPCA has identified dozens of streams and lakes that need monitoring, including seven sites flagged as “high priority.” MPCA monitors high priority sites every 10 years, and needs volunteers to monitor during “off” years.
If you are interested in helping the Pomme, more information is available on the MPCA website or you can email watervolunteers.mpca@state.mn.us.
