Stevens County Site 1, along Hwy 9

Picture shows downstream view from the bridge where samples where taken at Site 1 along Highway 9 in Stevens County. Railroad tracks run across the meandering stream.

South side of Pomme de Terre facing downstream from the bridge at Site 1. The meander winds so that it misses this pool which remains still, gathering sediment.

This picture is taken upstream of the bridge where samples where taken at Site 1 in Stevens County. Although cattails and other brushes remain near the edge of the river cropland is not far from the bank.


Stevens County Site 2, along Hwy 59

Site 2 along Highway 59 in Stevens County was not a bridge like the other sites but a set of five culverts. This picture shows the river as it flows downstream from the culverts.

Upstream from the culverts. Cows are a point source inputting fecal matter directly into the river.


Stevens County Site 3, along County Rd 5

The picture shows the downstream view from where samples where taken off the bridge at Site 3 along Highway 5 in Stevens County. The extreme meandering path of the stream is shown here, and sheep had been seen grazing at the cut bank on the right side.
