The Pomme de Terre watershed and the involved counties are exploring new ways to protect our waters and minimize runoff during heavy rainfall events.
One of the best, most economical ways to accomplish this goal is to install rain gardens. Rain gardens are basically depressions in the ground filled with native plants near buildings
or parking lots that collect rain water and allow it to slowly drain back into the soil rather than carry all of its nutrients directly to a water supply.
